These should be practiced a great deal. If you will give yourself some exercises, such as writing down miscellaneous items then quickly filling in the code words that represent them, you will find that you will become very familiar with them in a short time. You may group two numbers by the following method. Suppose the number is 3255. You can picture a moon with a lily growing out of it. The 32 repre­sents the moon and the 55 the lily. Number 1941 could be visualized as a tub (#19) with a rat (#41) running around it. You can make up additional words to supplement these if you desire, but learn these and use them as your permanent filing device.

To remember telephone numbers, you can memorize the exchange through the same system as that for memorizing a person's name. It may be visualized and repeated and pic­tured into a story that ties in with the numbers that you take out of this numeric-phonetic system.
